Air
Canada Toronto Terminal 2 closing (effective
Jan 30, 2007)
Effective
January 30, 2007 all of Air Canada's operations
in Toronto will be consolidated to Terminal
1, and as a result Terminal 2 will be
closing.
If
customers departed for the US prior to January
30, they should be aware of the following:
*
Vehicles parked in the T2 parking garage will
remain there until midnight Feb. 6. 2007. At
that time, Abrams towing will begin relocating
vehicles to Terminal 1 parking garage.
*
A section of level 5 in the T1 garage will be
blocked off for relocated vehicles. Customers
with vehicles that have been relocated will
be charged normal parking fee, but not charged
for the towing costs. There will be signage
in T1
advising customers where to proceed for their
cars.
Please
note that the GTAA shuttle bus will continue
to operate from Toronto's T1 to YYZ T2 up to
Feb. 06, for those customers who have parked
their cars in T2 (prior to towing commencing).
The bus will be available at post C on T1's
arrival level. There will not be a set schedule,
but instead the bus will operate based on demand.
GTAA has advised that the maximum wait should
be no more than 10 minutes.

UPGRADES
TO NEXUS PROGRAM ADDS MORE SPEED TO BORDER CROSSINGS
The
NEXUS program, operated jointly by the U.S.
and Canadian border services, will be upgraded
in 2007. It will be expanded to all land, marine
and air ports of entry.
This
is an improvement from previous CanPass and
PACE programs, in that it operates with the
agreement and involvement of both the U.S. and
Canada border services. As such, the same card
applies to crossings at both sides of the border.
It allows border crossers to use special "fast"
lanes at border crossings and in airports.
Together
with a passport, the NEXUS card will fulfill
the requirements of the Western Hemisphere Travel
Initiative as an approved alternative travel
document. The requirement for cross-border passports
came into effect for air travellers on Jan.
23, 2007.
